Who are we?

Welcome to Words & Whimsy Book Club (Powered by OwlCrate).

Established in 2018, our journey began within the virtual pages of The UnOfficial OwlCrate Book Club on Facebook, which Kayla Bees (love you forever, friend) created in 2016. Today, Words & Whimsy flourishes in the hands of over 30 dedicated moderators and Helpers, finding its home on The Nest. 

Today, OwlCrate powers our community. For readers, by readers, and Words & Whimsy owner 

and admin Jordan Fleming (Head of Community at OwlCrate and Head of Publishing at OwlCrate Press) at the helm. 

Our backbone is in the hard-working hands of our moderators: Erin, Amber, Jayce, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ashley, 

Maggie, Anna, Jennie, Amanda, Megan, Taryn,  Brittany, Meg, Tara, Shaunesay, Kathy, Dario, Megan, and Zoë. 

They tirelessly cultivate an environment where every community member feels as if they're with friends.

But what sets Words & Whimsy apart is our commitment to bringing authors and readers closer together. We've curated over four hundred panels and live events featuring icons of the literary world, such as Brandon Sanderson, Christopher Paolini, Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman, S.A. Chakraborty, Samantha Shannon, 

V.E. Schwab, Katee Robert, Laini Taylor, Cassandra Clare, Holly Black, Tracy Deonn, Rebecca Ross, and countless others.

Additionally, we're renowned for hosting the ultimate monthly reading challenge. The Words & Whimsy Reading Challenge, powered by OwlCrate, is a monthly reading game where players compete to devour the most books and earn coveted points. With unique themes, custom content, 

and bonus challenges each month, you'll forge new friendships and dive into bookish realms like never before.

And we love supporting amazing charities and deserving organizations. Words & Whimsy chooses to champion causes close to our hearts. We have supported organizations like Doctors Without Borders, The Book Truck, The Trevor Project, Sea Shepherd, and many others. 

To date, our community has raised over $45,000 since 2019 for worthy causes, with OwlCrate graciously matching many of our donations to literary charities

— a testament to the power of words and the generosity of our fantastic community.
